After a long break i'm back with a little Vector Tutorial. I started to draw a while ago and thought i could
colorize the picture with photoshop, but after scanning the picture the lines didnt look good enought and coloring
would be a bit complicated (after all the picture isnt transperent).
Looks a bit Noisy =)
The Pen Tool is perfect for such a problem, we're going to redraw the lines with the Pen Tool. There are some things you should know about the tool. First of all it draws in Vector, that means there are no pixels, the program stores the information in which direction the line looks and that's all, so you can resize a vector picture without loss of quality.
You can use the Pen tool for a lot of different things, and i'm going to show you one of them =)
First we select the Pen Tool and configure some settings.
The Pen Tool and the settings
We stick with the normal Pen Tool and choose Path as drawing setting. We're ready now to redraw the lines, but first you should know how to work with that tool, it's quite hard to get used to it because it's totally different to other Drawing tools. Ever click with that tool it will create a point the next click will connect those to points, quite simple ;p but if you click and drag it will create an anchor. with this anchor you can bend the path and fit it to your line art. Tip: with CTRL + Left Mouse button, you can finish a path, very very useful =)
The Path Lines without the original picture
after the long and hard work, the fun part begins =) we finished the outlines and we have to turn those vectors into pixels. first create a new layer, then we select the brush tool, best would be a normal round brush, and set the size to 3 or 4 whatever you like. we go back to our pen tool and right click on the picture (be sure there is no path selected) and select "Stroke Path...", use the drop down list to select brush and click OK.
